It’s normal to have lots of questions as you get ready to apply to medical school—so we’ve compiled a few answers to the most common ones below.
How to apply to medical school? You can apply to RUSM by filling out our online medical school application or by submitting your AMCAS, AACOMAS, or TMDSAS application.
When to apply to medical school?Ross University School of Medicine operates on rolling admissions, and application submissions close only as classes are filled. Medical school applicants are welcome to apply up to a year in advance of their intended semester. However, all prerequisite courses should be completed and MCAT scores made available.
How much does it cost to apply to medical school? There is no fee for submitting the Ross University School of Medicine application.
What medical schools should I apply to?As medical school admissions criteria may vary slightly, it is important for applicants to become knowledgeable about each institution’s requirements prior to submitting an application and apply to the programs that best match their credentials.
How many medical schools should I apply to?Applying to multiple schools of medicine may increase your chances of admission, but applying to several schools at once may lead to emotional stress because of the many details and requirements, and financial stress, as other schools charge application fees. Applicants should apply to the number of schools they can comfortably undertake without diminishing the quality of each application.
Can I apply to medical school before taking the MCAT?You may submit the Ross University School of Medicine application while preparing to take the MCAT exam. Our Admissions Coordinators will work with applicants to complete the rest of your application. However, MCAT scores must be available prior to the Admissions Committee’s review of the applicant’s file for admission.
What do you need to apply to medical school?Good grades (particularly in prerequisite courses) are essential for gaining admission to medical school, but there is no exact grade point average (GPA) required. That said, the higher your GPA, the better your chances.
Can I Apply to the Same Medical School More Than Once?Yes, you can apply to the same medical school—including RUSM—more than once. But to be considered for acceptance after a previous rejection, your application should demonstrate improvement in test scores, experience, or other areas.
Does RUSM Offer Scholarships?Yes, RUSM offers a number of scholarships that are awarded by selection or application.

Ross University School of Medicine is accredited by the Caribbean Accreditation Authority for Education in Medicine and other Health Professions (CAAM-HP, www.caam-hp.org).
CAAM-HP is the legally constituted body established in 2003 under the aegis of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), empowered to determine and prescribe standards and to accredit programs of medical, dental, veterinary and other health professions education on behalf of the contracting parties in CARICOM.
Accreditation by CAAM-HP is a rigorous, peer review process which examines all aspects of a medical program. The CAAM-HP board, an independent and autonomous body of professionals, only certifies medical schools which are operating at the highest levels of industry standards.
Through this accreditation, the CAAM-HP provides assurance to medical students, graduates, the medical profession, healthcare institutions, and the public that programs leading to qualifications in medicine meet appropriate national and international standards for educational quality, and that the graduates have a sufficiently complete and valid educational experience.
